Owens River Trips

Starting at the dam below Pleasant Valley Reservoir, the Lower Owens river takes it's course and meanders south through the Owens Valley, ultimately ending at Owens Lake south of Lone Pine. The Lower Owens river is a Blue Ribbon stream, providing exceptional habitat and high fish density. Some of the best angling opportunities in the region are found here with a healthy population of brown and rainbow trout. The Wild Trout Section below Pleasant Valley Reservoir has some of the most fish per mile of any stream in the state, with a strong population of self-sustaining, wild fish. The drift boat section, or as we like to call it, the drive & fish section, starts just outside the town of Bishop at Hwy 6 and runs south 20 miles, as the crow flies, to Big Pine. Here, you'll find a mix of wild and stocked fish. It's not uncommon to tussle with 18-20" fish here. Whether you're into walk & wade or drive & fish, The Lower Owens river provides endless opportunities around every bend!

All fishing gear including rod, reel, tackle and flies will be provided. Water, snacks, refreshments and lunch (on full day trips) will be provided. All you need to bring is warm/layered clothing, sunblock/sun wear and a valid California fishing license for all anglers 16 years of age or older, which can be purchased at one of many sporting goods stores in Bishop or Mammoth Lakes. All trout fishing will strictly be catch and release in an effort to help preserve and protect our truly special fisheries.
